Encouraging retail investment

The European Commission intends to extend the participation of non-professional savers (retail investors) in the capital market of the European Union so that they can take full advantage of it in a safe and informed manner.

As things stand, there are a number of obstacles common to savers, which is why the European Commission is planning to review the legal framework for retail investment, in particular the MiFID II Directive, in order to adapt it to the profile and needs of consumers in order to support and strengthen their participation in capital markets.
