Child Guarantee: the European Union and the fight against poverty and social exclusion of boys and girls

With the implementation of the European Child Guarantee, the European Commission intends to ensure access to essential services for boys and girls under the age of 18 at risk of poverty or social exclusion.

What is the situation in Italy and the EU?

Data on children at risk of poverty or exclusion released by Eurostat are surprising: in the European Union 24.4% of children are at risk of poverty and social exclusion, Italy ranks fifth with a very critical percentage of 29.7%, after Romania (41.5%), Spain (33.4%), Bulgaria (33%) and Greece (32%).

These data tell us that there is a lot of work to be done, but the European Child Guarantee is certainly an excellent tool for action to implement child protection policies.
