Belle de Jong is a freelance journalist and leading editor for Western Europe at The European Correspondent. She is passionate about mental health, social justice and European affairs, as she translates complex issues into understandable narratives, showcasing their impact on everyday lives.
Originally from the Netherlands, she spent her formative years in Malta, where she studied Communication Studies and International Relations. Reporting on mental health, abortion, and other social issues, she stands at the nexus of journalism and advocacy. Her journey then led her to the heart of the EU, where she worked on social and environmental policy in the European Parliament, as well as two Belgian newsrooms.
With a Master’s in journalism and media in Europe, she now focuses on pan-European journalism and connecting Europeans to the Union.
