The HyMoCARES project is led by Servizio Bacini Montani with the close collaboration of the Provincial Agency for Environmental Protection and the Provincial Agency for Water Resources and Energy.
In this episode of our podcast, we will explore the HyMoCares project, an initiative that focuses on integrating the ecosystem into the management of alpine river basins.
It was tried to understand how one can work in harmony with nature, rather than against it, when it comes to managing rivers and their ecosystems. Thanks to HyMoCares, you can now make these ecosystem services clearer to the public. This will help everyone to understand better the importance of preserving and protecting our precious alpine waterways.
HyMoCares was co-funded by the European Community through the Interreg Alpine Space programme, with a total budget of around 2.5 million euros. The main objective was to develop and promote an operational and practical approach for integrating ecosystem services into river basin planning and management, understanding how rivers behave and develop in response to external forces.
But this is not only an environmental objective; it has also been tried to make itself felt by those who have the decision-making responsibilities, to ensure the well-being of Alpine rivers and promote river regeneration. To achieve these objectives, numerous technological innovations have been used and studied, making the project safe and sustainable.
In conclusion, HyMoCares has achieved significant results and we look forward to a continued commitment to improving our waterways and the well-being of the communities around them.
